Connectathon 2021 is organized by Confederation with Indian Industry (CII). Connectathon is a 72 hours’ online hackathon for students from Tamil Nadu colleges to build innovative solutions with market potential for the problems stated by different departments of Government of Tamil Nadu.

Objective

To create innovations for Tamil Nadu addressing the sectors with unsolved problem statements and unrecognized opportunities.

Criteria for Participation

  • A student team who aspires to create a change by solving a real time problem of Tamil Nadu.
  • The team can be from any Institute from Tamil Nadu with or without knowledge in coding based on the solution they are working on.
  • Any student (UG, PG, Research Scholar) who loves networking and willing to learn and try new technology.
  • A team of minimum 2 and maximum of 4 including mentors.

Instructions to the Participants

  • A team can either apply for building hardware or software innovation.
  • If a team chooses to build a hardware solution, no fund shall be provided by CII.
  • The top 15 teams must present their prototypes during their final presentation.
  • The schedule for the 72 hours’ hackathon will be shared only with the top 15 startups.
  • A team may change it’s member upon a formal request to the organizing team.
  • It is not mandatory a team to have a mentor.
  • It is advisable for a team to have interdisciplinary participation.
  • A team from different institutes are not allowed to participate. If found any member from different Institute, the team will be disqualified.
  • Any document submitted will be checked for plagiarism for avoiding idea theft.

Problem Statement from
Government of Tamil Nadu

Revenue Department

  • Using GIS, land cover mapping needed to be developed for urban. This map should facilitate the possibility of new town ship, drainage plan, growing urban forest like miyawakki forest.
  • Developing a landslide monitoring system along with required hardware setup to monitor monsoon landslide in Ooty terrain using drones.
  • Perform analysis on Urban land vacancy and how to avoid its degradation.

Rural Development

  • Low-Cost technology for a Centralized Control and Monitoring System (CCMS) for Street Lights in Rural Areas using Internet of Things (IoT)

Food Department

  • Real Time Stock Position Monitoring in each PDS by the landholders attached to the shop

Public Department

  • Court Case Management Software
  • Develop a System so that it brings out new perspectives related to political, cultural, economic, or science related aspects of national movement about Unsung Heroes etc.,

Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department

  • Creating an application to link alumni of TN universities
  • Integrated job vacancies network across TN Companies

Instructions

  • The participating team should be from any Institute/College of TamilNadu
  • A team should comprise of Minimum of 2 and maximum of 4 participants including mentor
  • A team may or may not include a mentor from the Institute
  • All the team members should belong to the same Institute/College
  • Team members (UG/PG/Research Scholar) can participate
  • The certificate will carry the name of the Institute given during the application process for all the members
